INDUSTRY/ABOUT:
MOW is a non-profit organization providing meals to homebound senior citizens throughout communities in the USA.
PROJECT DETAILS:
1. Logo Development
2. Poster Design
3. Flash Animation
First steps began with “found objects”… Items that could be incorporated into design elements to be used for our client’s logo. The Meals On Wheels name gave me an immediate brainstorming list which included wheels and food.
Selecting the choice of food took some time as it offers many options. I recalled the old adage “An Apple A Day” and my creative process took off at great speed.
My final choice for objects included an apple on wheels, and the design process began. Thumbnails sketches are a necessity to get thoughts organized as well as serve as a guide once designs are created and fine tuned digitally in Adobe Illustrator. Color selection also has to be reviewed and sampled. My color selections included five in total: black and white for text and accents, red and green for the apple, and looking forward to poster design, yellow was also selected. Finally, fonts for text had to be selected. My logo evolved over several weeks time and was finalized with elements that indicated movement.

Once a logo was selected, the poster process began. Again with sketchbook in hand, thumbnails were drawn. My poster offered opportunity to utilize additional graphic elements. Found on the internet was a high resolution photo of a Meals On Wheels delivery. In addition, I created a road for the poster to emphasize the transport method of delivery for Meals On Wheels. The text selected was found on the Meals On Wheels website. The focus was on their initiative program which runs until 2020. Several iterations of the poster were created and modified, resulting in the final version.
The final step in the Design For Good project gave the opportunity to bring my poster to life. Incorporating the poster design into the Adobe Flash program allowed the elements to be individually featured, in timed measurements, then culminating in a view duplicating the poster.
